Some More (Hopefully) Helpful Writing Tips
Posted: Sep 23, 2009
Hi, All. When writing short answers, think about explicating a thinker's view or argument. When writing essays, think about arguing for a position (or solving a problem) based on what the text says. Don't shy away from parts that might undermine your view. Try to analyze and overcome them.
You should also keep things simple! Write as if you're explaining things to a moderately intelligent 8th grader. You don't need complicated language or sentence structure.

Next Week's Movie - View and Vote!!!
Posted: Sep 17, 2009
Hi All, Please watch the trailers for "Being There" and "Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned". Then send me an email with your choice for next week's screening. Ordinarily I would choose, but our class discussions (which, by the way, have been excellent - good for you!) haven't forced me in one direction or another...
The link below should take you to a site that has trailers for both films. "Being There" can also be found on YouTube.com, but I've had a hard time finding the other film elsewhere... If videodetective.com doesn't work, try
